Buffalo Bulls beat Toledo 6-4

The Buffalo Bulls have won their first conference series of the season, winning game two by a score of 6-4. Vinny Mallaro blasted a two run homer for the second straight game and Mike Kaelin was solid in relief for theBulls.

For the second game in a row Toledo got out of the first with a 1-0 lead only to have the Bulls come right back and take a lead of their own.

In the second inning, after a strikout, the Rockets walked the bases loaded before Bobby Sheppard singled down the line scoring Kyle Brennan. The Bulls kept the bases loaded with a fielders choice but Tony Abrunzo drew a walk to score a second run.

The Bulls doubled their run total in the fifth. Mike Abrunzo singled to lead off and then Vinny Mallaro hit his second homerun of the series. Making the score 4-1 UB.

Alex Thrower showed great base running in the sixth. Thrower started off the inning by drawing a walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Bobby Sheppard. A throwing error by the catchers allowed Thrower to roundthird base and score a run, building the UB lead to 5-1.

Toledo would make a comeback in the bottom of the seventh. Buffalo starter Charlie Sobieraski walked the first three batters before being relived by Mike Kaelin. Toledo managed three runs, closing to a 5-4 deficit going into the eighth.

When Mike Abrunzo led off the 8th with a walk Eddie Edwards came on to pinch run. He was moved along by Vinny Mallaro and scored on a drive to the left field line by Chris Kiwtzer.

Mike Kaelin dug a hole in the bottom of the ninth by letting the first two batters reach responded by striking out the next three batters.

The Bulls are now 8-10 on the season and 2-0 in MAC play. UB will go for the sweep, tomorrow at 1:PM
