Yesterday UB was struck out more than a dozen times and benefited from no errors and only single walk. Today the Bulls took advantage of a few early mishaps by Northeastern to get going and then piled on from there.

Behind a five for five performance by UB leadoff hitter Bobby Sheppard the Bulls downs the Northeastern Huskies to even up their series and get to 6-8 on the season.

UB Got on the board early thanks in part to a field error which allowed Sheppard to second and Abrunzo to first with only a single out. The next at bat Vinny Mallaro hit a fielders choice that moved Sheppard to third and then a throwing error in the next at bat scored Sheppard.

The next inning saw Alex Thrower get a two out walk, steal a base, and then get knocked in by Bobby Sheppard single.

Northwestern got on the board in their half of the secon but were denied a second run when Charlie Sobieraski struck out Kelly with a runner on third.

It stayed 2-1 until the fifth inning. Sheppard collected his second lead off hit, and his third of the day but a fielders choice kept him from getting to second. Abrunzo singled through the left side in the next at bat moving Ben Haefner advanced to second. The pair then moved over another base on a wild pitch.

Vinny Mallaro hit a double down the left field line to score Heafner and Abrunzo, building the UB lead to 4-1.

In the bottom of the sixth Northeastern hit a two out double which added  added a pair to again make it a one run game.

In the eighth UB found themselves with two outs and a runner on first when Alex Thrower kicked off a series of hits that added two insurance runs.

His single moved Ben Vey to second and then Bobby Sheppard collected his fifth hit of the game when he doubled down the right field line.

Brandon Mumaw took the mound with one on and no outs in the bottom of the 9th, normally a starter he was pressed into relief service because of yesterday's extended game. He put down three in a row to secure the win.

Same two teams will play a bumper game tomorrow at noon.
