Buffalo Bulls Practice Notes - 8/10

And so it begins

- Kosh, Babylon 5

While it's a beginning of the season for us fans it is also the beginning of the last season for the seniors.

So what do you do while waiting for practice to start? William Tell long snapping

Of course the big question is how's does Joe Licata look. Is he all healed up? He is of course the man has to play well if this first season under Coach Leipold will be a success.

Buffalo Bulls Football Positional Preview - Quarterbacks - Bull Run

In lieu of a traditional overarching team preview in one post, I thought it best to take each position group and give Bulls fans an in-depth breakdown player-by-player with some insights on who may or may not be starting for the Bulls in Lance Leipold's inaugural season at the helm. For our first entry we'll be taking a look at the most important position on the field: the quarterbacks.

It sounds like Licata is completely heald following his hip surgery.

"I was 100% going, every drill and I took every rep I was supposed to and I'm going to throughout camp. They might take some precautionary steps in two a days but that's just precautionary. I'm fine, I'm 100%," Joe Licata said after practice on Monday.

The Buffalo News had a slew of good info.

UB football practice report: Day One - Campus Watch
X INJURIES: Starting outside linebacker Jarrett Franklin and lead kick returner Devin Campbell both are not participating due to back injuries. They’re out indefinitely. Leipold said it’s too early to say if they might be questionable for Week One. UB is deep at running back, less deep at linebacker. Meanwhile, defensive end Zach Smekal injured a leg during practice and was on crutches by the end of the session. He’s being evaluated. He was working among the top four at DE.

X OLINE: Red-shirt freshman James O’Hagan was the starting center. Fifth-year senior Dillon Guy was at left guard, and sophomore Brandon Manosalvas at right guard. Senior John Kling started at left tackle and senior Bob Blodgett at right tackle.

X FRONT FOUR: The first-team DL appeared to be DE Solomon Jackson, DT Max Perisse, DT Brandon Crawford and DE Demone Harris. The second DL: Randy Anyanwu, Chris Ford, Christain Gonzalez, Myles Nicholas. The third DL: Charles Harris, Corey Henderson, Gonzalez and Torey Hendrick.

X LBS: Kyril Threats took Franklin’s OLB spot, joining Okezie Alozie and MLB Nick Gilbo. The second unit was Matt Mallory, Travis Pitzonka in the middle and Brandon Berry.

X DBS: The first unit appeared to be Boise Ross and Marqus Baker at corner, with Ryan Williamson and Andrews Dadeboe at safety. William Rembert and Houston Glass looked like the next two up at safety.
