Team Canada Catcher Kaleigh Rafter hired as Assistant Softball Coach
It's always exciting when someone you've seen on TV gets hired at UB. Kaleigh Rafter was for many years Team Canada's top power hitter, I've watched her at World Championships and World Cup of Softball, and you didn't want to see her come up to the plate with runners on base. Since I was rooting for Team USA, usually the USA pitchers were dominant enough to handle the Canadian batters, but not always. Having someone on your coaching staff who has had to hit off of Cat Osterman and Monica Abbott and Jennie Finch and Ukiko Ueno, and someone who has caught for Danielle Lawrie, brings a huge amount of credibility to the knowledge she will be imparting to the UB team.
And congrats to Trena Peel, not only bringing in a coach with International experience against the best in the world, but also for her recent recruits who have picked up some huge honors recently.
