Andre Davis did not get a contract out of his New York Jets experience but Denver quickly snapped up the undrafted rookie.
Broncos sign undrafted rookies Andre Davis and David Porter - Mile High Report
Davis is a 6'4, 314lb offensive guard of the University of Buffalo. He recently had a tryout with the New York Jets during their rookie minicamp. He has experience at left tackle and left guard in college, but figures to play inside at the next level. The Broncos do have a need at left guard. They currently have journeyman Shelley Smith and backup Ben Garland competing for the starting job.
As the Mile High Report notes: Davis has experience at both left tackle and left guard but his best fit at the next level will be at guard. and that is where the Bronco's need some depth.
Davis has the raw power to be a road grader at guard, and he was a key piece in Branden Oliver's record breaking career, opening up massive holes for the former Bull. After Olvier went on to the NFL Davis once again helped pae the way for a big threat UB back in Anthone Taylor.
John McWhinnie compared Andre Davis to Kent State's Brian Winters. Both player were similar in both size and ability. Winters was taken in the 3rd round by the New York Jets in the 2013 draft and started 12 games for the Jets.
In Denver Davis has a very outside chance to make the roster and a reasonable shot at landing on the practice squad. Good luck Andre!
