It's been quite a week for the Bulls who went on to make money playing baseball. The Biggest story is Steve Geltz getting called up by Tampa Bay. It will be his second stint in the pro's. Even though the Rays are well out of the hunt for the post season this is a great time for Geltz to make an impression.
He made it back despite missing 50 games of AAA ball due to a suspension.

Geltz was suspended for some 50 games because he tested positive for a recreational drug banned by Major League Baseball, the second time he has been suspended. After serving his suspension Geltz came has been sporting a 2.38 ERA over 41.2 innings at Durham.
Another UB Pitcher was recently called up from the rookie league the the short A league. Mike Burke was drafted in the 30th round last year by the Baltimore Orioles. Now he is playing for a team owned by Cal RIpkin Jr.

Mike Burke, the most called upon starter in UB Baseball history, has been promoted from the Gulf Coast Orioles to the Aberdeen Iron Birds. Burke saw action in 11 games for the GCL Orioles, a rookie league team he was assigned to after being drafted in the 30th round of this past seasons MLB draft.
Burke had an outstanding first week with the Iron Birds.
Three games, five innings pitched, two hits, nine strikeouts, and no runs. That adds up to a win and a save in his first week.
