Jason Kanzler is a dirty dirty thief... And Fort Meyers could not be happier.
Kanzler is making the most of Minnesota's minor league injury issues. The second year pro batted 294 this week and sole five bases, only striking out four times. He had five hits, 2 RBI's, and three walks.
The twins have had a few top prospects injured this year, in particular their center field Byron Buxton. This could be an opening for Kanzler to make the leap to AA and the New Britain Rock Cats.
Burke Continues his solid play
No wins or saves for Mike Burke continues to be solid on the mound. He is 5th in strike outs per inning for the GCL Orioles among pitchers who have pitched ten or more innings.
This week he pitched three innings, obtained two K's and walked only one
Steve Geltz had a rocky start to the week, getting roughed up for 3 runs in 1.1 innings against Rochester but bounced back with two more outings which helped him lower that week long ERA to 6.75. Against Charlotte Geltz threw a gem. Two innings with five strikeouts and no runs allowed.
Tyler Mauter had a pretty forgettable week. 19 at bats and no hits. He had just three walks and did manage an RBI but the rookie was kept hitless against four different opponents through six games.
