NCAA Recruiting Update - Brandon Smiley

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

Jeff Quinn has his first Verbal commit of the 2015 season in Sweet Home's Brandon Smiley. If the verbal holds up he will join his former teammate, Jordan Johnson, next spring.

The six foot two inch Smiley checks in at 195 points and was a 1st team Class A All-state DB as a Junior. 247 sports lists Smiley as a wide receiver rather than a defensive back.

The Panthers’ Smiley showed his offensive versatility early during his seniors season when, against Iroquois , he set up Sweet Home’s first score but putting a 48 yard run and then two plays later taking a screen pass for a touchdown.

Later in the season, when Panthers coach John Faller was aiming at his 200th victory Smiley caught a 27-yard Touchdown pass and forced a fumble on West Seneca East’s first drive of the second half.

Though he is not the same type of receiver as Alex Neutz he is a local kid who has the potential to be a game breaking wide receiver for the Bulls.
