Buffalo Bulls - Bowling Green Falcons Opposing Media Coverage

Take a look at what the Bowling Green Media is saying about Saturday's game between the Falcons and the Bulls, a rematch of last year's de facto MAC East Championship game that saw Bowling Green top UB on a cold Friday at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

One of the many reasons to love MACtion is that we're back to familiar opponents and it's a lot easier to find coverage of your in-conference rivals. Norfolk State and Duquesne? Not so much. Fortunately, with half the conference in Ohio I'll be able to put these together more quickly. Take a look at what the Bowling Green media - and some others in the state - are saying about the Falcons before tomorrow's game.

For starters, the defense. For everything we've said here about UB's defensive falls from last year, Bowling Green insiders are raising a bigger ruckus. I, for one, think my score prediction is too low.

Bowling Green Football team focus on improving every week, defense staying aggressive despite multiple key injuries - The BG News: Sports
It’s all about improvement for the 3-2 Bowling Green Falcons as they enter their homecoming matchup against The University at Buffalo.

Falcons host Buffalo Saturday - Sentinel-Tribune: Sports
A host of injuries, inexperience, and maybe simply a lack of talent – it has all added up to one of the nation’s worst defenses.

BG defense causing the wrong kind of headache - Sentinel-Tribune: Sports
I have a headache. And it's probably here to stay for the season.

Youth, injuries hurt Falcon defense - The Toledo Blade

The Blade and the local TV station look to part of the reason BGSU is still 3-2 despite this armageddon defense: their offense that runs as double speed:

Of course, take a look at the school-provided preview and game notes:

And to finish off, a laugh. Usually Elton Alexander of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer is pretty good, if better with Akron, Kent and Ohio, which are the closest MAC schools to Cleveland. However, this week his preview for our game seems a little off the mark:

One MAC team to end a winless streak, and a trap game for Toledo - MAC Football 2014 | cleveland.com
All about the 'O': Bowling Green (3-2, 1-0), with the worst defense in Division I football, gets to test its offense-only theory again on Saturday at home against defense-minded Buffalo (3-2, 1-0)

Happy reading, and see you in the game thread.
