Stan Weir leaves the Buffalo Bulls

The turmoil in Amherst continues

UB Athletics

According to the Buffalo News UB Shooting Guard Stan Weir has parted ways with the team.

Weir's connection to the Bulls goes back to Nichols where he and current Buffalo Bull Will Regan led Nichols to a 2010 state championship. That season he averaged 16.5 points per game. His senor season, at East Aurora, Weir set school records for points in a season (585), points in a game (40), and average points per game. He led the state in three pointers made, with 68, and ranked third in the state with 132 made free throws.

The .first team all state player was a huge get for former Buffalo coach Reggie Witherspoon but the Western New York Player of the Year missed his first season due to a serious knee injury which required surgery. The recent addition of Josh Freelove may have been in anticipation of this change.

Of all the losses during the transition this is probably the biggest. While it's true that Weir had never played a minute of college ball he had solid potential.
