Josh Freelove transfers to Buffalo

Buffalo is still shifting players around in preparation of Bobby Hurley's first season.

The day started with the news that Cameron Downing an academic casualty. He is not with the team any longer but still at the university. The Senior guards situation left a hole in the roster that went unfilled for about 18 hours. By the end of the day Josh Freelove, a senior guard, transferred to Buffalo from Alabama State

Alabama State is in the midst of APR issues. The Hornets filed penalty waivers in each of the four sports -- football, men's basketball, baseball and volleyball. Former ASU athletic director Stacy Danley, fired by the university administration last January, said he wasn't surprised at the Hornets' continual struggles in handling APR issues.

Because of the APR issues UB will likely apply for a waiver so that Freelove can play immediately. With the loss of Downing there is a 10 minute per game hole that Freelove might step in to fill.

Last season with Alabama State Freelove averaged 13.6points per game and visited Auburn while looking for transfer options. The Junior led the Hornets in scoring and shot an impressive .792 from the free throw line.

This will be his second stint in the MAC, Freelove spent his freshman year playing for Toledo.
