99 for 99 - #91: Lou Reale to the Giants

99 for 99 takes a look at the 99 biggest moments in UB Football history in anticipation of the 99th Season of UB Football which begins on September 1st, 2012. These moments are not in any order, however the top 10 moments have been saved for last.

In honor of the NFL Draft, UB's greatest Draft moments.

January 21, 1959 - Lou Reale is 3rd UB player drafted in the 50's

Reale was raised in Middleport NY and graduated from Royalton-Hartland High School. He came to UB as a Fullback, but in his final 2 years, he switched to Center and excelled.

The 1958 UB Bulls won the Lambert cup behind Willie Evans who averaged 7.6 yards per carry during the season. Lou Reale was crucial to the running attack and as Co-Captain, Reale received the Lambart Trophy along with Nick Bottini on The Ed Sullivan Show. Reale was rewarded for his stellar play when he was drafted in the 25th round by the New York Giants.

Reale never played for the Giants, and enlisted in the US Army. In 1961 Reale was signed by the AFL's Buffalo Bills.
