Buffalo's DIII squad has a coach!

James Doersam named DIII Head Coach " University at Buffalo Hockey
The University at Buffalo is pleased to announce the appointment of James Doersam as Head Coach of the newly formed University at Buffalo DIII Men’s Hockey team. In addition, Jim’s responsibilities will include coaching the DIII program as well being assigned to the scouting and recruiting program for the DI program.

The Coach

So this ramp up is coming with an efficiency that puts professional athletic departments to shame. In under a month UB Hockey has announced their intention to form a DIII squad to compliment the Division one team. They have scheduled tryouts and they have hired a head coach.

Doersam has deep Buffalo ties being a native an assistant with the Junior Sabres. He was a big part of that program’s recruiting efforts in New York and Pennsylvania.

He has also served as an associate Head Coach at the University of Iowa and Assistant Coach at West Chester University

On the ice Doersam played with the Hornets and Junior B hockey for the Fort Erie (Ont.) Meteors.

The Players

DIII Evals changed to Nov. 28th&29th " University at Buffalo Hockey
Any current UB student in good standing is permitted to participate in the club in some capacity. The coaching staff will determine which students will be offered an on-ice opportunity. Evaluations will be held on November 28th & 29th from 5:30-7:00 AM at the Northtowns Center. Those who came to the August evaluations will not have to pay a fee to participate. If you did not attend those ice sessions there will be a $20 non-refundable fee.

This week tryouts are being held and that team will play about ten games in the second half of this season.
