Post Mortem Music: Who'll Stop The Rain

Maybe he can stop the rain...
Maybe he can stop the rain...
UB Athletics

Long as I remember the rain been comin' down
Clouds of mystery pourin' confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages tryin' to find the sun.
And I wonder still I wonder who'll stop the rain.

That's the question UB Nation has to be asking themselves? Who will stop the rain? (The UB Version)

Long as I remember the losses have been comin' down.
Clouds of misery pourin' pain all around.
Good man of UB Nation tryin' to find the sun.
And I wonder still I wonder who'll stop the rain?

There were of course some positives from this game. Other than one missed field goal, which sure looked good to me, our special teams were phenomenal! Blocked extra points, great punting, and solid coverage characterized a unit that has completely failed to carry its weight for years. I know there were some issues with our return game but beggars can't exactly be choosers.

I'm still not a fan of the rugby punt but it was might effective today.

I'm tempted to praise the defense but Toledo made Buffalo look like a team in slow motion coming out of the half. Davie Fluellen put up 278 yards and a huge portion of that was a fast third quarter drive which went 80+ yards and consisted, literally, of just running Fluellen up the middle.

During the first half the defensive backs may have played their best football of the season but when the team really needed the defense to stand up and stop the deluge they were nowhere to be found.

The offense? oh the offense.

Thanks to a hot mic Buffalo fans were treated to hearing the pro announcers say what we were all thinking.

Why in the world did coach Quinn give up on the run when Licata came into the game?

Buffalo finally has Branden Oliver back, down only three (after the Licata touchdown pass), and they come out like a team allergic to running the ball. There was plenty of time and you had a freshman in as Quarterback for the injured Zordich. Why not at least try to use Oliver to soften up the defense?

So whats next?

Miami, a team that just upset Ohio, comes into Amherst. Maybe against Miami we'll finally be able to stop the rain..
