If there is one thing I am looking forward to this season it is seeing what Khalil Mack is going to look like with a year under his belt. Apparently UB fans are not the only ones watching.
Khalil Mack Named to CFPA Watch List - Buffalo Athletics
University at Buffalo sophomore linebacker Khalil Mack has been named to the College Football Performance Awards Watch List for the 2011 Linebacker Trophy. He is one of 40 linebackers named to the list.
Looks like the summer break is coming to en end for the folks at the UB Spectrum, a bunh of good reads went up today , here are two of them:
Quinn's First Season is one to Forget - Sports - The Spectrum - University at Buffalo
It was a season of chaos and confusion for Buffalo. Quinn looked like the right man for the job and Buffalo put a hurting on its opening day opponent, Rhode Island. With sophomore quarterback Jerry Davis making his Bulls debut, Buffalo routed the Rams, 31-0. Davis passed for 302 yards and four touchdowns and the defense pitched a shutout. The Bulls were off to a roaring start. Then reality set in considering the Rams were a Division 1 subdivision school. The lowly Rams were no accurate barometer for how successful this Bulls team would be, as Buffalo found out in Waco, Tx. The Baylor Bears put a hurting on Buffalo, 34-6.
Two Quarterbacks, One Position, One Competition - Sports - The Spectrum - University at Buffalo
The Bulls' quarterback play was shoddy at best last season. Junior quarterback Jerry Davis was the starter at the beginning of last year, but his struggles forced sophomore quarterback Alex Zordich into action. Zordich looked impressive in his short tenure as starting quarterback until he went down with injury, at which point Davis reclaimed the role of starter.
UB's former Athletic Director is starting a new job
Former UB AD Arkeilpane Named Director of Athletics for the CGA
Arkeilpane was named officer-in-charge in UB's Division of Athletics and then served as interim athletics director for 10 months prior to being named director in February 1999. He was promoted to the helm of the Bulls' department of athletics after spending three years as Associate Athletics Director of Development at UB starting in 1995. As director of athletics, Arkeilpane had responsibility for all intercollegiate athletic, recreational and intramural athletics programs at Buffalo.
Tom Murphy, one of the highlights in a pretty bad baseball season is getting some impressive work this summer.
Murphy Leads NECBL to Victory Over Team USA - Buffalo Athletics
Playing for the New England Collegiate Baseball team at Fenway Park, Buffalo catcher Tom Murphy hit a solo home run over the Green Monster to help lead his squad to an upset victory over the United States Collegiate National team Monday afternoon, 3-2 in an exhibition game. In the second inning, Murphy broke a scoreless tie with a shot over the historic left field wall.
