Preview: Buffalo Bulls Women’s Basketball to take on Toledo Rockets in MAC semi-finals

Today, UB Women’s Basketball will take on the Toledo Rockets in hopes of going to their second straight Mid-American Conference Championship Game. The Bulls are coming off of a fantastic 69-65 performance over #2 seeded Ball State to move on to this semi-finals matchup.

The Rockets are almost as dangerous of a matchup for the Bulls as Ball State was. Toledo took down the Bulls in each of their two matchups with the Bulls this season: a 73-64 showing in Alumni Arena and an 85-63 game on the road. Buffalo will have to prove how hard it is to beat a team three times in one season.

Toledo has one of the deepest benches in the MAC that can help put points on the board. What’s even better for them is they are one of the most balanced scoring teams in the MAC as well. Four Toledo players went into the MAC Tournament averaging in double figures.

Janice Monakana leads the Rockets with with 12.8 points and 6 rebounds per game. The Bulls will also have to watch out for Jay Bravo-Harriott, Mikaela Boyd, and Kaayla McIntyre.

The best way for the Bulls to win this game is again to slow it down. Stephanie Reid did an amazing job performing full court pressure on Ball State’s point guard and Toledo would be flustered if they can’t run the floor. If Buffalo can also get another great game out of Suchan, Hemphill, and Katherine Ups, I really do think that a MAC Championship appearance is in the cards for this team.

The Bulls tip-off this afternoon at 1:30PM and the game will be streamed on ESPN3.
