Buffalo releases 2015-16 Women's Basketball Schedule

UB Athletics

The Women's Basketball schedule, other than the 9 December game against St. Bonaventure, didn't go up early on the UB website, but was released this afternoon all the same. A pair of transfers, a chronic injury, and the graduation of two senior forwards have gutted UB's upperclassman depth, especially in the frontcourt, and the Bulls will be one of, if not the, youngest teams in the nation this year.

Like the Men's Schedule, my first instinct is that this is a good set up for Coach Jack's young team and for fans looking to get to know the new faces.

Early home games

Buffalo spends nearly the entire month of November in Alumni Arena, which should help the team grow comfortable and find its groove. A pair of home exhibitions will let the coaching staff tinker out the best rotation in game action, while games against Canisius, LIU-Brooklyn, and Cornell are rematches from last year that will present similar challenges to both the staff and the returning players.

Regularity in this MAC schedule, too

Like the men, Women's Hoops sees a predictable Wednesday-Saturday rotation through the conference slate. Once again, this is good for interested fans and students who won't need to juggle their schedules as much.

Road-heavy in December

It's not as bad as it looks, honestly. Coach Jack seems to like finding a Thanksgiving tournament, and for the second straight year will take the Bulls south for a pair of games. The other road games through December are twice in Western New York and twice in the important NYC/Connecticut recruiting area.

Tough start to MAC play

EMU's Cha Sweeney is ridiculously fun to watch and ridiculously hard to play against, and starting conference play on the road against the 2015 MAC runners-up isn't the most preferable option. Two more road games in the next three will challenge the Bulls, but after that start, UB enjoys the home stretch with plenty of time at Alumni Arena.
