Buffalo Volleyball season ends with four-set loss to Ball State

UB Athletics

After a third straight six-win MAC season, again tying a program record, UB Volleyball ended their year in the opening round of the conference tournament this evening with a four-set loss to sixth seed Ball State.

The Cardinals swept Buffalo in Muncie just three weeks ago but needed an extra set this evening after UB won the second set 25-22. I don't have more stats or even the full final scoreline until a box score arrives, as live stats were once again down.

The loss concludes a strong finish to the season, which started out inauspiciously thanks to a tougher schedule under first-year head coach Blair Brown Lipsitz, an adjustment to the new coach's system, and the loss of much of Buffalo's 2014 offense during the offseason. Considering Amber Hatchett and Marissa Prinzbach each missed substantial time to injuries, forcing UB to at times play four freshmen while starting three. Given the depth developed this season and the return of Hatchett, the foundations are in place for a step forward next year.

I'll update this post when a box score becomes available.
