Buffalo Volleyball weekend preview: Bulls looking for wins against Eastern, Central Michigan

UB Athletics

All things considered, we're pretty pleased with the improvement Volleyball has shown over the course of October. At times playing four freshmen, a strong weekend here after three games against conference frontrunners could, maybe, just put UB in contention for a MAC Tournament berth.

Eastern Michigan (12-9, 4-4 MAC)

Friday, 23 October; 7:00 PM
Ypsilanti, MI

All-time series: Eastern Michigan leads, 19-1
Last Meeting: Eastern Michigan, 3-2; 24 October 2014
2015 Common Opponents: Murray State (2-3), The MAC
Streams: Video!
Live Stats: Sidearm Stats from EMU

Eages Player to Watch: Senior OH Stacey Perinar

At 3.73 kills/set, Perinar is third in the MAC. She's only hitting .182, but the Eagles go to her twice as frequently as any other option.

Each of UB's opponents this weekend sit 4-4 in-conference. If UB plays as well as it did last week, or has at times this season, it could pull off a win or two. I'm not looking super deep into these matchups right now, but neither of these teams will preset the challenges that NIU and WMU did.

Central Michigan (9-12, 4-4 MAC)

Saturday, 24 October; 7:00 PM
Mt. Pleasant, MI

All-time series: Central Michigan leads, 14-5
Last Meeting: Buffalo, 3-1; 25 October 2014
2015 Common Opponents: The MAC
Streams: ESPN3? Maybe ESPN3
Live Stats: Available here.

Chippewas Player to Watch: Senior MB Angelique White

Sixth in the MAC in hitting percentage and blocks, I'd say more but I'm late getting this post up.

Kind of the same story as above. I think CMU is the more winnable game.
