Buffalo Bulls Women's Tennis sweeps shortened match against Quinnipiac

UB Athletics

In Connecticut for UConn's Connecticut Invitational, UB Women's Tennis will only play shortened dual matches against three opponents this weekend, but got off to the right start with a sweep of Quinnipiac this evening.

The Bobcats are something of a regional power, below the Ivies at least, having not dropped a conference dual in two seasons and beginning 2016 as the overwhelming favorites to once again win the MAAC, but the Bulls took all four singles matches in addition to a single doubles showdown.

At least the abbreviated 4-1 format allowed for a longer doubles match, and UB was able to get most everyone action as the doubles pairing of Margarita Kotok and Dayana Agasieva did not compete in singles. There's not a whole lot more to say here, as UB not only swept the team score, but won every set on the evening, as well.

Doubles:

Kotok/Agasieva (UB) def. Young/Lohaphaisan (QU); 6-4, 6-2

Singles:

Tanja Stojanovska (UB) def. Sophia Dzulynsky (QU); 6-4, 6-4
Chantal Martinez Blanco (UB) def. Rachel Horton (QU); 6-4, 7-5
Laura Holterbosch (UB) def. Jennifer Lu (QU); 6-3, 6-3
Sanjana Sudhir (UB) def. Sitilia Rencheli (QU); 7-5, 6-2

(Exhib.) Mercedes Losada Rubio (UB) def. Alexandra Mircea (QU); 6-2, 6-1
