Buffalo Bulls In The NFL: Josh Thomas, Branden Oliver, Matt Weiser, Kristjan Sokoli

Josh ThomasDallas Cowboys at LA Rams

Goal Going In - Get some first team reps and make a play or two.

Two tackles and a lot of reps with the second team. He gave up a couple of receptions but stopped receivers dead after the catch.

The cornerbacks seemed to have decent coverage and rookie Anthony Brown, notably, was the first team slot corner. He and Josh Thomas allowed some completions but were in position and prevented yards after the catch.

Thomas appears to have an inside track to the 53 man roster.

Kristjan SokoliSeattle Seahawks at Kansas City

Goal Going In - Show that two years of NFL camps and his athleticism makes him better than a lot of the young project players.

Sokoli played quite a bit but did not distinguish himself from the other players fighting for a job on the roster. Most people guess at the 53 man roster still has Sokoli on the outside looking in.

Branden OliverMatt WeiserSan Diego Chargers at Tennessee

Goals Going in - Oliver needs to show the form he had before last year's toe injury. Supposedly there are some formations in the Chargers playbook designed to include him more in the offense this year.

Matt Weiser needs to show effective blocking when he is in. The tight end is a great pass catcher and only got overlooked in the NFL draft because he was perceived as one dimensional.

Oliver had a good game, he saw some action with the first units and some productive carries with the second units. His three carries for 19 yards was second per carry on the team behind only Danny Woodhead.

Weiser did not accumulate any stats and I did not see him on the field. There is still a buzz that he is a practice squad player but you'd like to see him get some real  work in the early going this preseason.
