Former Bulls Men’s Soccer Head Coach Davie Carmichael will be trading the Buffalo winters for the Cali sunshine this upcoming season after landing a volunteer assistant coaching job with Cal Poly. The Mustangs are currently coached by former US men’s national team head coach Steve Sampson.
Carmichael leaves Buffalo after a tumultuous few months as UB’s head coach. The Bulls’ previous coach Stu Riddle left in January to take over the Northern Kentucky job and athletic director Allen Greene chose continuity in staff be selecting Carmichael for the job.
Just two months later, Carmichael, his staff, and his team found out they were affected by the University’s decision to reduce its intercollegiate athletic programs to 16. Bulls Soccer was almost ready to announce a new recruiting class for this upcoming fall at the time.
Joining a 5-9-3 Cal Poly squad, the former UB coach does appear to be under contract still with Buffalo according to The Buffalo News. We wouldn’t be shocked if he’s still getting paid until next year like UB Baseball’s staff.
Congrats Davie and we wish the best of luck to you!
