Wes Clark is the newest UB Alumnus to ink a pro contract overseas, further padding Nate Oats’ already stunning resume. The recent grad has signed with Italy’s New Basket Brindisi.

”We welcome Wes, a player with undoubted ballistic skills,” said Simone Giofrè, director of basketball operations and scouting for the club. “This will be his first experience outside the USA and we hope that Brindisi will be a great opportunity for him and for an excellent professional career.”

New Basket Brindisi is a member of Lega Basket Serie A (LBA), the premier professional league in all of Italy. The LBA is consistently one of the best domestic basketball leagues in Europe.

Clark will be part of a rebuilding effort for the club, which is coming off of a rough 9-20 campaign, just a few losses away from being relegated to Serie A2 Basket, the second tier of Italy’s league pyramid.

A native of the Detroit area, Clark was a star at Romulus High School, the first head-coaching stop for current UB head coach Nate Oats. Once he graduated, he played three seasons at Missouri before dismissal for failing to meet academic expectations.

With nowhere to go, Clark reconnected with Oats and came to Buffalo during the 2016-17 season. After sitting out for a year, he quickly made headlines in the remaining pieces of the Bulls’ non-conference schedule, which included a 17-point, 8-assist mark over ranked Texas A&M.

Clark was key for Buffalo’s third MAC Tournament Championship in four years with a 26-point performance over Toledo and helped the Bulls stun the nation over nationally ranked Arizona with a 25-point showing in the NCAA Tournament. He proved to be best ball handler and one of the best shooters in the 2017-18 edition of the Bulls.

The UB alum’s pro career will get underway this October with an LBA matchup against AX Armani Exchange Milan. There appears to be many streaming options for Bulls fans everywhere to catch Clark in action.
