Fall Sports Postponed

Whelp, guess who has started a bunch of positional previews for this season that won’t get to finish until, the spring, if at all.

The Mid-American Conference (MAC) has announced the postponement of all scheduled fall contests, as well as MAC championships, due to continuing concerns related to the COVID-19 global pandemic. The Council of Presidents unanimously voted to take this action with the health and safety of its student-athletes, coaches and communities as its top priority. It is the intention of the membership to provide competitive opportunities for the student-athletes in these sports during the spring semester of 2021.

The intention, to provide opportunity to these athletes to compete in the spring, that may mean a “conference only” season or we may start to see some of the P5 conferences finally call it soon.

With a covid breakout at Rutgers, for example, how is the B1G going to protect their athletes. It’s possible that money alone wills a football season out of the likes of Ohio State but at some point even the Big Ten is going to have to look in a mirror and try to live with themselves.

If even one of the P5 conferences, who are now mostly playing conference only schedules, takes the leap to spring you’ll see a domino effect. It could be UB does play in Columbus in the spring.

All of this, if it happens, would probably trigger a move of the NFL draft to June so that the college football season can complete.

Anyway I’m scrambling for ideas on content until Basketball starts (or until they cancel basketball), right now I’m leaning towards dusting off the PS3 and updating the rosters on NCAA14 for a simulated season.

Also, I’ve gotten away from history posts, it might be time to bring some of those back for a few months.

Let me know in the comments what you as a community would enjoy, thanks!
