Player Breakdown
While Chanse Robinson stands at just 6’0” he fits the recent mold of Buffalo guards who play much larger than their listed size. Per MaxPreps, as a junior Robinson averaged 10.9 rebounds per game to go with 22.9 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.9 steals per game. Robinson’s quick-twitch athleticism makes him an ideal replacement for a backcourt that has graduated Dontay Caruthers, and will have graduated Davonta Jordan by the time Robinson would matriculate. New head coach Jim Whitesell appears to want to continue having guards that can place pressure on the opposing team’s ballhandler for 94 feet.
Offensively, Robinson shows the ability to get into the lane with ease. Robinson is also a star football player, and it shows with his fearlessness attacking the rim and finishing through and around contact. His weakness offensively at this point in his career appears to be his shooting as he shot 20% from 3 and 55% from the free throw line as a junior. Jordan and Caruthers both came to UB with similar shooting concerns, but both improved throughout their time in Buffalo.
