Buffalo Bulls Defensive Attrition

The returning starters for the defense are even fewer than the number than those of the offense.

Only three starters return from last season, along with a few key transfers in the off season has also thinned out the backups to some degree.

Corner

Gone are Slack and Lewis. But Baker, Aapari Washington, and Abbas are all back. They are some of the more experienced 2018 backups returning.

I’d expect Washington and Baker to be the guys with an inside track to start this season, we will see how things progress as camp continues.

Safety

Hey we have a returning starter!

Hills role in the defense increased throughout last season. He and Lamour are the returning experienced players but other than that it’s a pretty fresh slate for 2019

Linebackers

Gone is Khalil Hodge, but in his stead James Patterson takes over as the leader of the unit.

Patterson is young but hes the only returning starter, and was one of our better defensive players last season.

Also good news for this unit is that the entire 2018 second line returns. So despite being down two of the three starters there is a lot of experience on the unit.

Line

DeShondrick Foxworth is the teams only returning starter on the line. The senior was a transfer from Jones County Junior College and started four games in 2018. Despite only four starts he was a solid contributor in most UB games last season.
