Saint Bonaventure was running one of the nations longest win streaks, and most of that was due to their big man down low and their dangerous guard. But last night in Amherst it was Buffalo’s big man, and guard who ruled the night.

Jayvon Graves had a career-high 28 points and nailed the final two, free throws, to end a Saint Bonaventure come back attempt.

UB’s big man, Josh Mballa had 14 points and 15 rebounds, but more than that his aggressive play put Osun Osunniyi in foul trouble early and then put Bobby Planutis their shortly afterwards. The Bonnies could not maintain a solid presence down low for most of the game dut to the foul issues.

Jeenathan Williams added 12 points and Davonta Jordan had five steals.

The Bonnies jumped all over Buffalo early in the game building up a 12 point lead before eight minutes were gone in the first half. UB stopped the bleeding and than a Gabe Grant three pointer started a UB comeback which would tie the game in the last minute of the half.

The Bonnies pulled away a bit but had to settle for a 38-35 halftime lead.

IN the second though, it was all Buffalo. UB outscored Saint Bonaventure 49-41 and a lot of Saint Bonaventures points came in the last three minutes of play, after UB had built their own 12 point lead.

UB kicks off MAC play at home on Saturday.
