Buffalo Bulls Host Niagara Purple Eagles in a Big 4 Matchup

After getting by Canisius the Buffalo Bulls look to take down their second consecutive big four opponent when the Niagara Purple Eagles visit Alumni Arena, at 2:00PM, on Saturday.

The Purple Eagles had a pretty tumultuous off season. With not one, but two coaching changes.

After six seasons and no amazing results the Purple Eagles fired Chris Casey, and hired Patrick Beilein, who had success at LeMoyne. HE was young, had NBA experience, and built up Le Moyne into a DII power.

Then “something” happened and he had to step down for “personal reasons” just a few weeks before the start of the season. His Assistant coach Greg Paulus took over the team.

Paulus played for Duke, he’s been around at a few programs, so the Purps could have done a lot worse given how things played out.

While UB was beating Canisus this week, Niagara dropped a game at St. Bonaventure, 87-70.

Overall Niagara is 2-7 this season with their best win coming against Colgate, a team expected to win the Patriot league.

Niagara has a coach trying to implement a system he does not know all that well, to players who were all recruited by a different coach, who ran a different system. It’s not been great and there are going to be more roadblocks.

Buffalo should be able to win this game, if they can buckle down for 40 minutes and put together a full game.
