Have we said yet it’s going to be a great year!

On both sides of the ball the Bulls are sporting players likely to be drafted and each of them is making national waves on the preseason award watch list.

Anthony Johnson has been named to the Maxwell Award list, which recognizes the nation’s top college football player.

Meanwhile Khalil Hodge has been named to the Bednarik Award watch list, given annually to the nation’s top defensive player.

The only other Bull ever to make the Maxwell list was Branden Oliver. BO was an all mack Back, and became a starter for the San Diego Chargers.

Johnson is coming off arguably the best season ever by a UB receiver. He pulled down 76 catches for 1,356 yards and a school-record 14 touchdowns. He was second in the nation in receiving yards per game (113.0) and third in receiving touchdowns (14).

Hodge is a two time all conference player who totaled more tackles over the past two seasons than any other player in the country.
