So I got a hold of some details regarding Nate Oat’s contract. Here is the 10,000 foot view”

Salary

  • Base Salary = 600,000

That’s more than UB had reportedly offered Bobby Hurley back in the day. And Oats has earned every penny

  • Auto Allowance = 400$ per month

Oats has to pay for the car, the insurance, and everything. But he gets a 400$ stipend per month to conduct UB coaching duties.

  • 14 Season tickets to games
  • Cell phone / computer / and iPad

And the school will cover all data

Incentives

Mid American Conference

  • MAC Regular Season Championship - 1/12th of his base salary
  • MAC Tournament Championship - 1/12th of his base salary

NCAA Tournament

  • NCAA Tournament Round of 32 - 10K (And a matching amount for assistant pool)
  • NCAA Sweet Sixteen - 15K (And a matching amount for assistant pool)
  • NCAA Elite Eight - 20K (And a matching amount for assistant pool)
  • NCAA Final Four - 30K (And 20K for assistant pool)
  • NCAA Championship Game - 40K (And 30K for assistant pool)
  • NCAA Championship Win - 75K (And 50K for assistant Pool)

NIT Appearence

  • NIT at large bid - 5K (And 2.5K for assistant pool)
  • NIT second round - 5K (And 2.5K for assistant pool)
  • NIT quarter final - 5K (And 2.5K for assistant pool)
  • NIT semi-final - 5K (And 2.5K for assistant pool)
  • NIT finals - 5K (And 2.5K for assistant pool)
  • NIT Championship - 10K (And 2.5K for assistant pool)

Professional Recognition

  • MAC Coach of the year - 10K
  • Regional / District Coach of the year - 10K
  • National Coach of the Year - 25K

GPA

  • Team 2.8 GPA - 2.5K per semester

If we fire Oats (yeah, like that will ever happen)

  • University is fully responsible for the entirety of the remaining contract
  • Oats is obligated to make a good faith effort to find work, then the University pays the difference

If Oats is hired away

  • 2018-2019 -> 1,000,000 dollars to the University
  • 2019-2020 -> 500,000
  • 2020-2021 -> 400,000
  • 2021-2022 -> 350,000
  • 2022-2023 -> 300,000
