After a scoreless first half, Syracuse used goals in the 63rd and 90th minutes to avenge their loss to the Buffalo Women’s soccer team from a season ago despite a 10 save performance by junior Laura Dougall. UB falls to 3-3-2 on the year.
Syracuse got a goal from Sheridan Street at 63’ and added another on a late counter off a UB corner kick to add to the lead as UB couldn't match last year's overtime win over the Orange.
Dougall’s 10 saves this evening was her season high, topping her 9 save performance against Hofstra.
Carissima Cutrona was once again the focal point for the Buffalo offense, leading the way with three shots and one on net. Julia Benati was the only other Bull to notch more than one shot against the Orange. As has been an issue all season long, UB was able to generate a decent number of shots, but was unable to put a larger number of shots on net.
UB finishes their out-of-conference slate 3-3-2 and now has eight days to prepare for their MAC opener on the road at Ball State. The Cardinals boast one of the top defenses in the MAC and will give the UB offense a challenge to avenge their 1-0 loss from last season. Kickoff in Muncie will be at 5 PM on September 23rd.
