Three Bulls were in action during last night's NFL preseason games.
In San Diego Branden Oliver had the best night of any Charger running back. He ran the ball five times for 17 yards and added an eleven yard reception. Neither Melvin Gordon or Danny Woodhead were a factor in the San Diego passing game and it may be a sign that the Chargers coaching staff have, as they said, put stuff in the playbook to make sure Oliver does not go to waste.
Most of Oliver's yards were three yards and a cloud of dust plays which suits San Diego fans quite well. BO continues to be a player who can make his own holes and then work hem for a few yards.
In the same game Matt Weiser recorded his first reception as a Charger. It was a three yard reception on 2nd and 8, late in the 4th quarter.
The talk around Wipeiser is still that he may land a spot on the Charger's practice squad.
The other Bull in action tonight was Josh Thomas. Outside of an unnecessary roughness call he had a decent night. Thomas took reps with the second team, showing that he may be holding on to the inside track to making the final 53 man roster.
Tonight belongs to Jake Schum, who is fighting for the punting spot in Tampa Bay. The Bucs take on Jacksonville tonight at 7:30.
