Buffalo Bulls Baseball Drops Two to Saint Bonaventure

The  Buffalo Bulls rolled into Olean today for a mid week double header against the Saint Bonaventure. The Bonnies, like UB's other big four opponents put a lot more into their baseball programs than Buffalo so these games usually see UB as the underdog.

Game 1 - Saint Bonaventure 2 , Buffalo 1

Brandon Mumaw got the start in the first game. He acquitted himself rather well. After giving up a rocky first inning which saw the Bonnies score two runs on two hits he locked down the Bonnies shutting them out for six innings in which he only allowed three hits.

UB tried to rally. In the top of the third Brian Dudek hit a double which he stretched to three on a throwing error. In the next at bat Alex Thrower his a sacrifice drive to score Dudek.

Buffalo had one chance to tie the game in the seventh when Thrower reached second on a single and a steal. Bobby Sheppard worked the count full but then flied out to center to end the game.

Game 2 - Saint Bonaventure , Buffalo

The Bulls jumped out to an early lead in game two when Bobby sheppard was worked around the basses after a lead off single. Eventually Vinny Mallaro singled him in.

But the Bonnies roughed up Junior Blair Lakso in the home half of the first. Saint Bonaventure scored three runs on four hits. They followed that up with a run in the second and third inning before chasing Lakso out of the game with two more in the fourth.

Ben Vey stopped the bleeding but it was not until the sixth inning when the Bulls offense threatened again. With one out the Bulls drew a couple of walks and single to load the bases with one out. Ben Vey drew a walk but UB was shut down after that, stranding three runners.

The Bonnies added two runs in the bottom of the sixth and shut UB down in the seventh to secure the sweep.
