Baseball season is fast approaching. After a couple of pretty good seasons last year was a downer and it's going to be hard to right the ship given that Nick Sinay left school a year early to play in the minors.
If you follow college baseball then you know northern teams are nomads for the first month and a half or two months.
They drive around in team vans from southern school to southern school. They do not only play the boys from below the Dixie line but other Yankees who are sojourning the south.
For instance we play Marist in Davisdson, North Carolina.
Starting the season in February is stupid crazy but it's what the NCAA does. Hopefully at some time in the future people will decide that March is the earliest the season should start.
So UB begins the season with 21 straight road games. That's the entire out of conference slate plus our first MAC series against Toledo and some Big 4 action at Canisius and Saint Bonaventure.
The team put together a very tough non conference schedule. The Bulls have seven games against teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2015.
The Bulls begin conference play with a three game road trip to Toledo which runs through March 25-27.
If you notice Akron is not on the schedule. That is because the Zips dropped the sport last after last season. Up until the Zips left the assumption many MAC fans had was that no team could drop the sport.
But in Buffalo baseball is probably safe. New Athletic Director Allen Greene was himself a college and professional baseball player.
Also UB has included a decent mid major venue for baseball in their capital plan.
After MAC play begins March will conclude with a doubleheader against Big 4 foe St. Bonaventure on Tuesday, Mar. 29 with the games being played at 2:00 pm and 4:30 pm.
April sees UB with their first homes games of the season, a conference series against Eastern Michigan.
The games will take place on Friday, April 1 at 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 pm and Sunday, April 3 at 1:00 pm at Amherst Audobon Field.
The final month of the regular season begins with UB on the road at MAC foe Kent State on May 6-8 before the Bulls play a pair of road non-conference game against Hofstra and Niagara on May 14 and 17, respectively.
UB will conclude their regular season slate with three games against Bowling Green at home from May 19-21.
