Who is wearing #5 in 2015?
Tony Daniel
Hometown: Hiram, Georgia
Year: Redshirt-Senior
Position: Quarterback
High School: South Paulding
Freshman: (2011): Redshirted
Redshirt-Freshman: (2012): Daniel played in 11 games and served as the holder on field goals. Daniel ran once for 7 yards against Miami and threw a game breaking 10-yard pass on a failed field goal attempt in the game.
Redshirt-Sophomore (2013): Daniel played in 4 games going 4-7 passing for 42 yards and his first TD pass to Devon Hughes against Miami.
Redshirt-Junior (2014): Daniel played in 5 games rushing 6 times for 45 yards and his first rushing TD, and completing 9 of 15 passes for 149 yards and 2 passing TDs.
Outlook: Daniel brings a dual-threat option to the offense which is a contrast to Licata's pocket passing. The Alex Wood Bulls utilized Daniel as a change of pace in the UB offense, and that could continue for Lance Leipold who has utilized dual threat QBs at Whitewater. If the worst happens and Joe Licata goes down, UB fans will have Ohio State like confidence that the team won't miss a beat with Daniel under center.
#5 UB Football Game - 2nd Half
October 13, 2007 - UB 43, Toledo 33
To open the 2nd half, Starks moved the ball 32 yards to set up a 43-yard field goal, but the A.J. Principe attempt sailed wide right. Toledo answered with a TD to cut the UB lead to 10, 36-26. Mike Thompson intercepted a D.J. Lenehan pass to stop a Toledo drive, and both offenses went cold. In the fourth quarter, Starks ran four times for 48 yards including a 36-yard TD to give UB a 43-26 lead.
Toledo made it a 10 point game again with 7 minutes remaining. Starks ran 9 times for 27 yards chewing up 4 minutes of the clock before fumbling. That said, with two minutes remaining in a two score game, UB was able to hang on for the win.
James Starks ran 34 times for 231 yards and 3 TDs. Willy threw 9 for 17 for 185 yards and 3 TDs, (almost 4). Ernest Jackson caught 4 passes for 107 yards and 2 TDs. With the win, Buffalo moved to 3-4 tying the most wins in UB's FBS history with 5 games to go in the season.
