Who is wearing #37 in 2015?
Terrance Wilson
Hometown: Buford, Georgia
Year: Redshirt-Freshman
Position: Cornerback
High School: Buford
Freshman (2014): Redshirted
Outlook: Wilson's brother Thomas is holding his own at Missouri as a Safety/Nickelback. If Terrance Wilson could fill the Nickelback role this year, it would be welcome as UB has struggled in that area since the departures of Josh Thomas and Sherrod Lott.
#37 UB Football Game
November 28, 2008 - UB 21, Kent State 24
UB, riding a 5 game winning streak, had already clinched their spot in the 2008 MAC Championship game. Before they could travel to Detroit, they had one more game, Senior Day against 3-8 Kent State. UB opened the game with an eight play 80-yard TD drive featuring a 55-yard James Starks run. But Kent came ready to end their season on a high note, and responded with a 50-yard Eugene Jarvis TD run.
UB took a 14-10 lead into the 4th quarter and tried to extend the lead to 7 but a 42-yard field goal from A.J. Principe sailed wide left. On the next drive "quarterback" Julian Edelman ran four times for 43 yards before Eugene Jarvis ran the ball in for a Kent TD pass to give Kent a 17-14 lead. The shootout on, UB responded with a 23-yard Willy to Roosevelt TD pass. Kent responded with a Edelman to Simpson TD "pass".
With 5:49 remaining, UB fumbled but recovered the kick return. UB methodically drove down the field. With 2 minutes remaining in the game, UB faced 2nd and goal on the 7. Drew Willy hit Brett Hamlin with a path to the end zone, but just before he crossed the plane, he was stripped and Kent recovered the fumble in the end zone.
The UB defense forced 3rd and 11 with 1:34 remaining in the game, but "quarterback" Julian Edelman scrambled for 12 yards and a first down that ended the game. Edelman ran 19 times for 167 yards, returned two punts for 16 yards, punted twice for 75 yards and completed 13 passes for 114 yards and a TD.
The loss was ultimately forgivable as the Bulls won the MAC the following week. That said, had UB won against Kent, they would have finished the season 8-4, 7-5 UConn was 32nd in the coaches poll, so UB would have most likely been in the low thirties. After beating Ball State, UB moved up to 34th in the coaches poll. Had UB beat Kent State, I believe they would have been ranked #22 in the nation after the MAC Championship game.
