Jake Silas re-signed by the Ottawa REDBLACKS

Jake Silas, who played offensive line for Jeff Quinn while he coached the Bulls, has been re-signed by the Ottawa REDBLACKS of the Canadian Football League. Silas graduated after the 2014 season and spent some time in NFL camps.

Silas signed with Ottawa last year and spent the season on their practice squad. The REDBLACKS, a second year CFL expansion team, won the eastern division before falling in a close Grey Cup match to Edmonton.

After redshirting his freshman year the 6-7 Silas used the next two seasons as a reservist to learn the system. In 2013 he took over a spot on the starting line and never looked back.

During UB's run to the Potato Bowl Silas started in all 13 and helped pave the way for the fifth ranked rush offense and fourth ranked pass offense in the MAC. Before his senior season Silas was named to Phil Steele's All MAC Preseason team. After the season the conference honored Silas as a second team all conference player.

He Joins Ernest Jackson, a Buffalo Bulls Receiver from the Turner Gill Era, who is a big part of the Ottawa passing game.
