Buffalo is a senior laden team but on Saturday the San Diego Aztecs made them all look like freshman. Such is the risk of being a team full of players who've never played in a Bowl game before.
Khalil Mack and the Buffalo defense valiantly tried to keep the Bulls in the game but a flood of three and out possessions sprinkled with turnovers allowed San Diego to get a lead and then in the second quarter the Aztecs opened the flood gates.
When it was all said and done Adam Muema rushed for 230 yards and three touchdowns and Quinn Kaehler tossed a pair of touchdowns as San Diego State rolled to a 49-24 victory.
After a slow start the Bulls put up 10 unanswered points to close the score to 14-10 late in the second. Then the Aztecs pulled scored three touchdowns in a 5:24 span stretching from the end of the first half into the third quarter. The scoring real damage was done on Buffalo turnovers.
The first an interception just before halftime that set up Kaehler's 25-yard touchdown toss to Dylan Denso. The second came as UB fumbled on the opening kick in third quarter.
Buffalo ends the season 8-5, matching the schools best record of the FBS era. San Diego also finished 8-5, winning their first Bowl game since Brady Hoke left for Michigan.
