Mid-American Conference Announces Tie-In with Miami Beach Bowl

The Mid-American Conference announced another bowl tie-in today.

The shiny new "Miami Beach Bowl" will be played in Marlins Park in Miami. The MAC's spot in the rotation falls during the 2016 and 2018 bowl seasons.

The creation of the Miami Beach Bowl is the third of a series of bowl announcements and the centerpiece of a joint agreement between several FBS conferences.

The Miami Beach Bowl, along with the previously announced Boca Raton Bowl and Bahamas Bowl, will be supported by several FBS conferences on a six-year rotating basis (2014-2019). This way the conferences can broaden their appeal and diversify the potential list of destinations for their fan bases.

The MAC will play the American Athletic Conference in the Miami Beach Bowl in both the 2016 and 2018 bowl seasons.

There is one more  primary bowl partnership announcement for this rotation in the next several days.

"The Mid-American Conference is proud to have a tie-in with the Miami Beach Bowl as part of this collaborative effort among FBS conferences, We are excited for our student-athletes, fans and alumni to have the opportunity to come to South Florida as a bowl destination during the holidays for the 2016 and 2018 bowl seasons." -- Dr. Jon Steinbrecher, Mid-American Conference Commissioner.

The MAC's bowl schedule, thanks to this rotation, is as solid as pretty much any of the G5 conferences.
