A spectacular effort by Tony Watson was not enough to keep Buffalo from tripping up down the stretch in the final minutes of their game against Washington State. UB which lead after the first half and traded the lead for most of the second was outscored 14-4 in the final seven minutes.
Watson led Buffalo scores with 18 points on 7-13 shooting and Auraum Nuiriankh added 13 more. Javon McCrea, hampered by foul trouble, finished with just 2 points and eight rebounds.
Buffalo led 49-48 with 7:02 left before Washington State used a 13-1 run to pull away. At one point in the run UB went nearly six minutes without a field goal.
Jarryn Skeete who was expected to fill in for the injured Jarod Oldham shot just 3-13 but did manage a clean game as far as turnovers went.
The Bulls fall to 4-8 and have just two games left before conference play begins.
