The South Dakota State Jackrabbits Men's Basketball is one of the newer members of the Summit League. They joined the conference, and Division one 2007-08. Coached by Scott Nagy the Rabbits are sporting an RPI of 65, and stand at second in the summit league.
South Dakota State's Nate Wolters, a junior forward, leads the Jack Rabbits with 20 points per game.He is a true point who excels at every aspect of that position. He's coming off a season where he was voted to the All-Summit First Team, becoming the first Jackrabbit to ever do that. So far this season his play gives him the inside track at the Summit Leagues MVP.
He leads an offense that is 12th in the nation in scoring with 79.9 points per game.
The Jackrabbits have a good outside game but struggle a bit on the boards, particularly on the offensive boards where they are ranked 198th. Their paltry 3 blocks per game is indicative of a team who's best attacked on the inside by Mitchell Watt and Javon McCrea.
They have marked up a couple of nice road victories over the past couple of years including wins over the Iowa Hawkeyes and The Washington Huskies.Their common foes with Buffalo this season are Western Michigan, who they beat at home, and Niagara, who they dispatched at a neutral site.
This will be a very difficult road draw for Buffalo. None of the eight teams who have made the trip to Brookings South Dakota have managed to win. One of those teams, Western Michigan will travel to Buffalo a week before the match up. The other common opponent is Niagara which fell to the SDSU in a neutral site contest.
