Basket-Bull News... Next Bull Out and the Next one in?

Mike Clifford who came to UB from Bishop Fenwick High School in Danvers Massachusetts is transferring from Buffalo. This according to Rodney McKissic of the Buffalo News.

In 2009 he saw action in nine games, averaging 1.9 points and 1 rebound. His season high 14 of points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots in only 13 minutes against Buffalo State (12/12)...pulled down a rebound against Wisconsin-Green Bay (12/22).

This past season Clifford played in 16 games, after missing most of the non conference slate due to academic issues. He seldom saw more than five minutes in a game usually giving one of the starters an occasional breather.

Coach Witherspoon might need the extra scholarship because Local standout Will Regan is leaving Virginia and reportedly wants to play closer to home. He specifically mentioned UB as being high on his radar due to his past dealings with the coaches.

Regan, a 6-foot-8 forward who led Nichols to a New York State Federation championship, announced earlier this week that he is leaving the UVA. Virginia has granted him a release from his scholarship.

The New York State Class A Player of the Year will remain in Virginia for the next two weeks and then start shopping around.

His father has said the UB and Niagara are among a list of a dozen programs that his Regan will take a look at. Some other local schools like Canisius and St. Bonaventure University are not in the mix at this time, he said.
