McCrea keeps the hits coming. In addition to being named Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year he has now been named to College Insiders Mid-Major all freshman team. CollegeInsider.com began in 1995 as a regional newsletter. The product became an online presence in 1996, with college coaches taking active participation in 1997.

McCrea finished third on the Bulls by averaging 11.8 points per game and led UB with 6.5 rebounds per game. He was also second on the team in both blocks (58) and steals (43). He did this as a player off the bench, finishing only behind starters in terms of points per-game, blocks, and steals

McCrea scored over 20 points on five occasions during the season, including twice in post-season finishing the year with a season-high 29 points and 10 rebounds, against Iona. His second most productive effort, 28 points and 13 rebounds, came against against MAC Regular Season Champion Kent State during the MAC'spost-season tournament.

The 6-6, 245-pounder had six double-doubles on the season and set a tone right from the start by scoring 14 points and adding 10 rebounds in his first collegiate game against Navy. McCrea is one of just three Mid-American Conference players to be named to the 21-player team.
