UB Hockey Night: Home away from home?

Bullrunhockeynight_medium Last week, after dispatching Canesius the Bulls suffered their first conference loss at the hands of MercyHurst. Twice the Bulls fought back from a one goal deficit. Late in the First John Fitzgerald scored on the power play to tie the game at two.

After a scoreless second period Christopher Ventrella has to answer a goal by Mercy Hurst's David Gaines. Donny Watson beat Michael Musialowski with 4:15 left. The Bulls pulled Musialowski with a minute left in the game but were unable to tie it.

So with the first ECHL blemish out of the way UB has a "home and home"at SUNY Canton.

The Roo's are ranked #21 in ACHA and probably UB's biggest competition for the ECHL title this year. Led by Darren Camp and Adam Fedor Canton is still undefeated in league play and a sweep of Buffalo would go a long way towards sealing up the number one seed going into the ECHL playoffs (Canton has already beaten Mercyhurst).

Top Players:

Buffalo GP G A PTS PPG   Canton GP G A PTS PPG
Ganci, Matt 24 17 15 32 3   Camp, Darren 21 15 19 34 4

Krug, Daniel 23 5 19 24 4   Hardin, Jeremiah 15 6 16 22 2

Last Meeting:

These two teams squared off in the Blizzard at Buffalo finals with the Roos blanking UB 3-0 exploding for three third period goals on a very over worked Mike Musialowski. The UB Netminders opposite, Jimmy Merrow faced only 21 shots to Musialowski's 44.

If UB Wins:

For the Bulls a sweep, or even a favorable split would put them back in the drivers season if the tiebreakers fall the right way.
