No sweet 16 run this year for the UB Women. UConn built up a huge lead early and managed to hang on despite a very strong comeback attempt by the Bulls.
It was 15-0 before the Bulls even managed a basket. They grew that lead to 23 points before Buffalo started to play their game.
After that the Bulls got going and Pushed UConn well into the fourth quarter, but the hole they had dug was just too deep.
If you don’t follow womens hoops then you don’t understand just how good UConn is. If you’re under 25 then this UConn program has made it to at least the sweet 16 every season that you’ve been alive.
They are beyond any kind of dynasty you might think exists on the mens side.
So to see the women take that first punch in the face and rally back to play the last three and half quarters of the game up there with Connecticut is impressive.
At one point in fourth fourth point UB closed the gap to 8 points
It was a great season in what looked to be a rebuilding year. Coach Jack, along with her co-worker Coach Oats, have completely changed the culture at UB.
Thank you ladies for a great season!
