UB has been tearing through the season as a team that can beat you with any one of seven or so payers. But two have stood out enough to get national attention on the mid season watch lists.
CJ Massinburg has been named to the midseason watch list for the Lute Olson Award, and the Lou Henson Award. Nick Perkins was also named to the Henson Award
The Olson award is given to the nation’s top player, the Heisman of College Basketball. The Henson is given to the nations top mid-major player.
CJ “Buckets” Massinburg is averaging 17.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. In two of UBs biggest wins this season the was a key factor. Massinburg scored 43 in UB’s win over West Virginia and 25 points at the Carrier Dome to knock off Syracuse.
Nick Perkins, the two-time MAC Sixth Man of the Year, and is well on his way to a third. He averages 13.9 points per game and leads the Bulls with 8.1 rebounds per contest.
Both national awards will be presented at the College Insider awards event in April at the site of the men’s Division I national championship in Minneapolis, MN.
