Bulls roll BGSU and head to Detroit

FB Jackson Hawkins UBC

After a tough week for the Bulls, a win was a must. The “must” was for only the second time ever to play for the MAC Championship. A win and the Bulls are in. Bowling Green picking up steam at the right time heading into this Black Friday road contest. Weather for late November did not play a factor. The Bulls played a factor. The Bulls rolled. A 44 - 14 convincing win. The win is the tenth on the season for the Buffalo Bulls. A new single season record. The Bulls were strong in every aspect of the game except kicking. Alex McNulty kicks his first ever field goal. The kicking game was awful today. A blocked and missed extra point try. You may see a new kicker in Detroit. As bad as the kicking game was, the rest was wonderful.

Another great balanced attack for the Bulls. Marks with two rushing TD’s on the day. Patterson scoring early and often as well. Jaret Patterson has proven to be the Bulls number one back. His 40 yard break away TD was beautiful. Where Jaret is so impressive is gaining the extra yard to keep drives alive. What a great asset to have two amazing rushers. All the runners in the game gained yards. Great work by the offensive line not only today but all season protecting Tyree and opening great holes for the running game. This offensive line only gave up eight sacks all season. The offense shook up the game with fast attack snaps. Tyree gave the Bulls faithful a scare when his arm slammed into a rushing helmet. Antony Johnson changes this team. Picking up key third downs and shifting coverage away from the other receivers. Great pitch and catch right after BGSU scored from Jackson to George Rushing.

BGSU scored a late TD. The Bulls kept Bowling Green off the board all day. BGSU can move the ball. The Bulls made big plays when needed to get the offense off the field. The play of the game is Khalil Hodge’s stripping the ball and the 69 yard scoop and long score by Brandon Williams. It has been an absolute pleasure watching Hodge play for the Bulls. Achieving 400 tackles in a career is an amazing feat.

This is only the second time the Bulls have made it to the MAC Championship game. Last time was 2008 and a magical win for the Bulls. The MAC Championship game is Friday, November 30th. The Bulls are facing NIU. NIU has been a staple the past decade in the MAC Championship. Come back to Bull Run early and often for more on this game.

Congratulations the Buffalo Bulls for their best season ever.
