To finish our future schedule wish list, I'd add in G5 home-and-home series in locations where UB fans are, and where UB fans would want to travel. These games would be played with schools from the North, South, Texas and along the east coast.
Game 3: Group of 5 home and home in Texas, Florida, California, Georgia, Northeast, East Coast
Connecticut - UConn
Florida - Central Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, South Florida
Georgia - Georgia State
Louisiana - Tulane
Maryland - Navy
New York - Army
North Carolina - Charlotte, East Carolina
Texas - Houston, North Texas, Rice, SMU, UTSA
Virginia - Old Dominion
These games should be played in consecutive years as the familiarity builds anticipation for the game. We play Nevada this year, will we be able to stop those RBs that gashed us last year? But we don't play FAU until 2017; revenge for turnover-palooza will probably be less of a factor in 2017 than in 2016. UTEP was a great example, we don't generally care for UTEP, but felt that the series in 2008 and 2009 was nice.
These home-and-home series give UB a chance to play a competitive game against similar level of competition. In the ten years since 2006, UB has played 23 games against teams in BCS/Power 5 conferences. They are 1-22 in those games (1-5 at home, 0-17 on the road). Over that same time span, UB played 9 games against Mid-Major opponents, and have a 5-4 record in those games (3-2 at home, 2-2 on the road).
With a FCS game, two mid major games, and a pay check game, UB should enter conference play no worse than 2-2 each year.

Week 3 | vs Army | vs Colgate | at ODU | vs ODU | |

The current schedule is built similar to my dream schedule, the biggest departure is the game at Minnesota, which despite Tim, I don't believe it is an alumni hotspot, close enough to get many fans to make the trtip or a recruiting hotbed. UB is building good home-and-home series, with Temple, Army and ODU on our schedule. Our FCS games are not scheduled, and we will go at least 5 years without playing Stony Brook. Hopefully the Seawolves get back on the schedule.
