Recap - Buffalo Bulls 0 , Air Force 13 : UB Opens 2015 with a loss

The Buffalo Bulls baseball team opened up their 2016 season this afternoon versus Air Force at the Davidson tournament, in North Carolina. UB dropped the opener by a score of < > to < >.

The Bulls had their chances to stay in this game but too often left multiple runners in scoring position. In the third and fifth inning UB had the bases loaded (in the 5th with no outs) but were unable to capitalize. In the 4th and 7th innings UB left a man in scoring position.

Air Force got on the board early by challenging freshman catcher Billy Hartford. The Falcons led off with walk, then a steal, and than an RBI single. Right after the first run a wild pitch put the second Falcon batter of the day into scoring position. After another single the falcons had runners on the corners before they managed yet another steal.

An infield drive brought in the second falcon run of the inning. and gave Air Force all they would need to win the game.

The Falcons would add some insurance runs in the 4th inning when they led things off with a double which would eventually bring in one run. After an error allowed Air Force to get runners onto second and third base Tuohy gave up a triple moving the score to 5-0.

UB would try various pitchers but Air Force pounded in 8 runs between the seventh and eighth innings.

The player of the game for UB had to be Ben Haefner who got two hits, took two walks. He was also clean from the field.

The Bulls will be in action tomorrow night versus the tournament host, Davidson. First pitch, weather permitting, is set for 4:30
