According to FBSSchedules Buffalo has set a 2022 home date with Patriot League (FCS) member Holy Cross.
The Crusaders will travel to Buffalo on Sept. 10, 2022. It’s the 11th these two teams have squared off.
The addition of Holy Cross tentatively completes Buffalo’s 2022 non-conference schedule and leaves the Bulls with a lone out of conference home game that season. Along with the Holy Cross game UB’s OOC schedule includes Maryland (Sept. 3), at Coastal Carolina (Sept. 17), and at UMass (Oct. 15).
The teams first played in 1923, back when the Bulls were still called “The Bisons”, and UB was crushed.
They were regular opponents in the 1960’s, meeting eight times between 1962 and 1970. Overall the Crusaders hold a 6-3-1 advantage in the series.
The 1970 game was UB’s last home contest before the program was shuttered for nearly a decade. It was also the first time that UB had a regionally televised game. The match was televised by ABC for the eastern part of the country.
The Marching band put together an anti-war half time show only to have ABC put their cameras on Bailey avenue to avoid controversy during the game.
Buffalo won the game 16-0.
